  • Authenticity - All of our coaches have competed and found success at national level competitions in BJJ.

    Professional, Expert Instruction - Every coach has been training BJJ for at least 10 years and are at minimum a brown belt.

    Excellent Facilities - You can expect clean, thick and soft mats, good heating and ventilation, nearby parking and good transport links with an easily accessible location in central Exeter.

  • You can either pay per class or save with a monthly all-inclusive membership. All our prices are visible on our booking page.

    You can cancel/pause your monthly membership payments at any time and we pride ourselves on fully transparent pricing with no hidden fees for joining or grading.

  • Yes, please book yourself a place in advance. Booking can be made easier using our mobile scheduling app.

  • When you first attend a Foundation or Women’s class it is fine to train in comfortable sportswear providing it’s clean and free of toggles, zips, and buttons.

    If attending a Gi class, a clean Gi is essential. We have no rules on patches, academy affiliation or Gi colour, but do ask that you wash new clothing to ensure no ink bleed on our mats.

    If attending a No Gi class, a clean rash guard and pair of shorts free of toggles, zips, and buttons are appropriate. Spatz/Leggings and short/long sleeve rash guards are at your discretion.

  • No, we ask that you attend class already changed although we do have a bathroom which can be used if you forget. Please keep our small reception seating area free from clutter by using the provided storage boxes for bags and shoes.

  • Yes, new students and visitors from other clubs are welcome to come and train with us at any time.

  • Yes, all those attending the Academy are expected to be civil and use their common sense. For more information on what this means, please treat the Academy like it was your home and read the UKBJJA code of conduct here.

  • Yes, some coaches do offer private lessons. To arrange, please speak to the individual coach.

  • Aside from the usual IBJJF rules for Gi and NAGA rules for No Gi, we do not permit the following dangerous techniques during sparring:

    -Jumping guard

    -Scissor takedowns

    -Flying submissions

  • We pride ourselves on a friendly, fun atmosphere and take the wellbeing and safety of everyone at the Academy extremely seriously.

    All instructors are DBS checked, trained in Adult and Child Safeguarding, First Aid and covered by the clubs UKBJJA £5m tournament, public and product liability instructor insurance. In addition, we provide free member-to-member liability insurance for all our athletes.
